Our family will also be attending these ceremonies. Lt. Col. Raymond C. Schrump (Ret.) has become very active within the Fayetteville community since his retirement, in January of this year. I would urge ALL Vietnam Veterans to become involved with a Post and or volunteer your time at the newly opened Veteran's Park. Although this war was not "popular", it was THE war that shaped Fayetteville and Ft. Bragg forever. Ray Schrump solidly believes that sharing your feelings and experiences with others is the only way to truly heal your inner being. On a daily basis I have witnessed just that, his healing. When you have been chained to a tree for five long years, treated like an animal, and held numerous mens' lives in your arms while watching them die, it only seems natural to keep reliving the atrocities. Learning how to resolve issues in one's mind is not an easy task. But it can be done. He will be present and accounted for during these events. Many of you wore his POW/MIA bracelet while he was in captivity. For that, the entire Schrump family thanks you. Having him home, at last, is a blessing far deeper than anyone can imagine. My father, Ralph W. Robinson also served 3 tours in Nam. He still holds horrific scenes in his mind. They were both so very young but willing to serve their country no matter what. Neither went in for an education, they went in to serve their country. What Fayetteville is doing is the right thing to do-- helping all of these warriors to heal and feel appreciated. Remember, there are still soldiers who are unaccounted for....... Suzette R. Schrump

I think the Viet Vets have received a continuous homecoming since 1982, when the Wall was dedicated. That would be 29 years if my math serves me correctly. I am as pro-Viet Vet as any, since I am one myself. I have difficulty identifying with those living in the so distant past as my daily life moves forward. However, I want to make clear I totally support the rights of those Viet Vets to live in the far distant past, and if I were able, would give my last breath to sustain those rights. I was a Ranger Qualified Infantry Officer who fought and survived the Battles at LZ X-Ray in the Ia Drang Valley 14-16 Nov 65 as a Platoon Leader with 3B1/7 CAV, 1 CAV DIV. I feel qualified to say I do in fact know firsthand the horrors of war. I will be attending the ceremonies in Fayetteville with the Medal of Honor recipient and Ranger Classmate who saved my life the first day in LZ X-Ray, 14 Nov 65. Best to all. Garry Owen to those who served with the 7th CAV.

Vietnam veteran, two tours, I spent four tours at Ft Bragg in the 82d and 6th and 7th SFG, live a lot of my life in Fayetteville, even retired there for awhile. In Nov 95 I wrote a poem about the Vietnam Wall Memorial and on Veterans Day 1996 I read the poem at the Wall during the US Army Ranger Assn muster. I am available to read my poem at the traveling Vietnam Wall if your planners are interested. Also, I'm an actor, and played General Kinnard in the movie "We Were Soldiers", which I don't see listed in your movie showings.
To all who are planning to enter a unit into the Veterans Day Parade, please be sure that your application is in before the cutoff date of: COB 19 Oct. Time is of an essence now that we are getting near the cutoff date.

Hello, came accross your site and just wanted to say good job. We take a good number of wounded warriors, active duty and retired soldiers, along with Gold Star children on outdoor adventures. We have a number of VV's that come out to some of our events. If there is something we can offer to your organization, please let us know. Thank you,
Ken
